project 2

For this project, we were asked to demonstrate ways that an identity (a brand, a character, a meme or idea) can be projected through a range of media in a way that shows the operation of technology on the construction of identity in a digital world.
Using technology changes humans views on what we really are. Prosthesis extends the human body, Deification is the becoming gods creating life and also transcendence allows us to live others lives.
Technology is an escape to other realities. Once technology is involved in perception, what is ‘real’ becomes a matter of semiotics.
Identity is the way we think about our role and ourselves in larger social environments. Our identity can change online, depending on how individuals decide to portray themselves via a computer screen. Social media can portray an individual as happy, whereas in reality the person feels lonely. Many may say social media is an escape from the real world and they can be who they want to be rather than who they really are.
As a result of this, for my task I decided to create an advertisement showing how identity can change through a computer screen. I decided to create a photo frame including a face within which changes as the user rolls over a certain part of the face. I feel this changes the identity of the person within the photo frame portraying how individuals also do the same via social media
